Feature
Description

Customer Service & Satisfaction

You can contact a U.S. Bank customer service representative over the phone, online or by mobile app. While U.S. Bank offers plenty of support options, the majority of customers who left feedback on review websites are not satisfied with their products and services.

According to a recent J.D. Power survey, U.S. Bank ranked second to last for customer satisfaction among national issuers.

Mobile Apps & Online Services

The U.S. Bank mobile app allows consumers to access their credit card accounts on the go. The app lets you view your account status, available credit card balance, limit and payment due date. It is available in the Apple App Store and Google Play.

In the app, you can access up to your previous 99 transactions for the last 90 days. You can also view your account number and security code which is helpful when completing online purchases.

The 2021 J.D. Power Credit Card Mobile App Satisfaction Study ranked U.S. Bank second to last for mobile app satisfaction.

Security & Credit Monitoring Services

Cardholders can monitor their credit scores through the U.S. Bank mobile app or online banking. U.S. Bank uses the VantageScore 3.0 model, which considers the same data utilized by three leading credit reporting companies (TransUnion, Experian and Equifax). Your credit score helps you determine your creditworthiness.

Loyalty Programs & Other Issuer Perks

U.S. Bank offers generous loyalty programs and other perks in the form of cashback rewards, bonus travel points and discounts on shopping, sports, entertainment, wine purchases and car rentals. However, U.S. Bank does not have any airlines or hotels as transfer partners for its points.

Overall Opinion of U.S. Bank & Their Credit Card Offerings

U.S. Bank’s suite of credit cards may not be as robust as those of other issuers, but it has a decent lineup of offerings that are ideal for different situations. If your goal is to save on your daily spending through cashback rewards, the U.S. Bank Cash+ Visa Signature Card may be for you. The U.S. Bank Platinum Visa Card doesn’t give you points or rewards, but it’s a good option for paying down balances. In addition to balance transfers, the 0% introductory interest offer is helpful to those who want to spread out payment of large purchases over time.

EXPERT OPINION

"U.S. Bank has a variety of credit cards for consumers and small businesses that earn rewards or cash back, low interest rates, and valuable benefits. While many of its cards earn points, they are essentially cash back cards because U.S. Bank does not have any transfer partners, so there is no opportunity to receive outsized value on your rewards.

U.S. Bank is not as popular as American Express or Chase, but it has some good credit card options that could fit your spending habits and financial goals. Each card has its own strengths and weaknesses, so you have to assess your financial needs and goals carefully. The only thing with U.S. Bank that doesn’t impress us is its customer service, which ranks extremely low compared to other issuers. If customer service is important to you, you may wish to look elsewhere."

Still Not Sure About This Issuer? Consider These Options.

If you’re looking for something else not present in any of the U.S. Bank credit cards, you should consider other credit card alternatives offered by other issuers.
