Sita Nataraj Slavov is a professor of public policy at the Schar School of Policy and Government at George Mason University. She is an economist specializing in public finance and the economics of aging. Slavov is also a research associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research, an associate editor at the Journal of Pension Economics & Finance, and a nonresident senior fellow at the American Enterprise Institute. Before joining the Schar School, she was a resident scholar at the American Enterprise Institute, an associate professor at Occidental College, and a senior economist at the Council of Economic Advisers.
Slavov has published numerous articles, book chapters and policy briefs on work for older people and retirement policy. Her work has appeared in peer-reviewed journals such as the Journal of Health Economics, Journal of Public Economics, Journal of Human Resources, Review of Economic Studies and Journal of Public Economic Theory. She has testified before Congress on Social Security issues and served as a member of the 2019 Social Security Technical Panel on Assumptions and Methods. She has also published op-eds in outlets such as the New York Times "Room for Debate," the Los Angeles Times, Bloomberg Tax, Real Clear Markets and The Hill.
