A DUI can be extremely damaging to your finances:
- It may cause your insurance premiums to increase substantially.
- If the DUI resulted in an accident, you might be liable for damages to the other driver or your vehicle.
- You may need to pay an attorney to defend against the DUI charges.
- There may be a substantial fine and court costs if you are convicted.
- Moreover, your driving privileges may be suspended, resulting in added transportation costs. And you may have to pay to install and maintain a device on your car that tests your blood alcohol level and will not permit you to operate the vehicle if you’ve been drinking.
